Submitted by develCuy on Lun, 2007-08-20 00:32
Update: Don't use this method any more, please install hplip instead, and make sure to remove foo2zjs and hannah, because they conflict with hplip.
- Install CUPS
# apt-get install cups
# adduser youruser lpadmin
# adduser youruser lp - Follow instructions from http://foo2zjs.rkkda.com/ to install the driver
- Add your printer
- a. http://localhost:631/ (Web-based CUPS GUI)
- b.
# apt-get install foomatic-gui
$ foomatic-gui & - c. Add your printer with foomatic-gui like here
Blessings!

turn off, install, turn on
After many failure your post suggested to turn off, install hannah-foo2zjs and turn on.
Worked!
Thanks
Hanna-foo2zjs
As time pass, things went better. I've purchased a new laptop so I had to reinstall, this time painless.
1. Turn off you Printer (keep it power off)
2. Install cups driver and firmware downloader
sudo apt-get install foo2zjs hannah-foo2zjs
sudo hannah-foo2zjs
Choose your printer model click Download and for confirmation message.
4. Turn on you printer
5. Set up your printer with cups
Tip: If install hplip, this will help cups to detect your printer but you have to choose the driver: foo2zjs.
Blessings!
