Realmente me gusta Firefox y familia(Swiftweasel / Iceweasel), para mi trabajo y uso personal, porque son mis herramientas clave(soy desarrollador y themer Drupal) pero me estresan mucho porque algunas veces pueden consumir todos mis recursos junto a mi servidor web local: Apache, MySQL y PostgreSQL, por eso uso una alternativa ligera: Iceape(versión de Seamonkey en Debian).

Sí, todavía estoy vivo y trabajando en SLPOR 2008, razón por la cual tengo problemas editando el diseño del banner donado por Proyect-One el cual estaba en AI.
Probé varios programas, incluido SK1 pero tuve algunos lios, aquí cómo instalarlo en Debian Sid:
$ sudo apt-get install tk8.5 tcl8.5 python-liblcms zenity python2.4
$ sed "s/python /python2.4/ " /usr/bin/sk1 > /tmp/sk1 && sudo mv /tmp/sk1 /usr/bin
$ rm -rf /tmp/sk1 && sudo chmod 755 /usr/bin/sk1

Me apena que mi vieja compaq nx9030 fué vendida :(, pero gracias a Dios ahora tengo una nueva Toshiba a205-s5804. Este bebe corre con el kernel Debian sid amd64 porque su procesador Dual Core T2330 soporta EMT64.

Parece poderosa no?, bueno, mi esposa usaba la vieja laptop hasta que la vendía, y ahora estamos "en conflicto" por usar la nueva toshiba... entonces, para conservar mi matrimonio y ayudar al planeta salvando costos de energía, decidimos usarla al mismo tiempo, cómo?

I'm consternated with my Debian sid, I can't capture my screen with xvidcap or istanbul anymore, marvil told me that they work in Ubuntu, why not in Debian?

It was a pain the ass to research for a good an usable solution for me, because I have an old laptop CPU(Centrino 1.8Ghz), but 2 weeks later, here is the best solution I found at the moment. Sox is a "Swiss army knife of sound processing" with sound recording capabilities and ffmpeg is a "multimedia player, server and encoder" with screen capture capabilities.

One month ago I was experiencing memory leaks with Firefox.
I did a fast check with "top" command and seen that when Firefox was running it started to overcharge Xorg, making it to use more and more CPU and Memory resources, near 95%!!!!!!!!
So I've decided to use Opera. That was a nice experience to use that super-fast browser. The problem is that Firefox is a key tool for my working day (I'm web developer).
Today I've launched Opera from the command line, and noticed this warning:
"opera: X Shared memory extension is not available. ZPixmap not supported"

Oh! mi Dios, finalmente encontré ese paquete.

No podía apagar mi computadora porque los manejadores de eventos acpi no estaban funcionando desde hace 3 meses! Por qué?

Porque el paquete fué partido en dos: acpi y acpi-tools, y cuando actualicé mi Debian sid, no tuvo cuidado del nuevo paquete. Solución:

apt-get install acpi-tools

Update: Ya no debe usar este método, por favor ahora instalar hplip, y desinstalar foo2zjs y hannah, por entran en conflicto con hplip.

1. Instalar CUPS
   # apt-get install cups
   # adduser youruser lpadmin
   # adduser youruser lp
2. Seguir las instrucciones de http://foo2zjs.rkkda.com/ para installar el controlador
3. Agregar la impresora
   • a. http://localhost:631/ (Interface CUPS basada en web)
   • b.
     # apt-get install foomatic-gui
     $ foomatic-gui &
   • c. Agregar la impresora con foomatic-gui como se hace aquí
